Bucketlist Trip: NOLA Day 2

If power walking is on your agenda – head for the riverfront – go early to beat the summer heat compounded by the sun and humidity – there are several parks and entry points depending on where you are coming from – we had to hop over a train (stationary!) to get to the start of the Mississippi River Walk – made it through Woldenberg Park and the Moonwalk til the boardwalk ended at the industrial side of the French Market.

Next area of interest on our googlemap is the Garden District – had to walk a bit to get onto the St Charles Street Car, but worth the trip. Streetcars are an excellent way to get around NOLA. $1.25 for a single ride you pay cash when you board. They also have 1, 3, 31 day “Jazzy” passes to allow for all day/unlimited. Visit the RTA website for details on where to get those.  What to see in the Garden District…..neighborhood between St Charles and Magazine has a variety of mansions and cottages and a cemetery in the middle – there are a few coffee shops, cafes and boutiques to take a break from the sun and Magazine is lined with a plethora of shops, restaurants and bars. Something for everyone!

Next up is back to the Quarter – Frenchmen Street…..jazz clubs, French Market….etc
